Tae Kwon Do

Uncategorized

By the way I started learning Tae Kwon Do from the Forces of Tae Kwon Do put out by Grand Master Sell and the U.S. Chung Do Kwan Association. I have always wanted to learn and live a martial art, and this one is a great U.S. adapted and Christian Organization. www.uscdka.com.

I got the info from George Lloyd as he is an instructor in it. He will be able to test me for my belts and instruct me. BTW, I am with George here in Nashville where I took the test and I am planning on visiting with family for the holidays. So far I can’t believe what a workout just practising the fundamentals is. I get a sweat going doing my exercises and this will be added to my overall training.

While visiting my brother I will be able to get him up to speed and prepared for the Spring. I am almost finished studying the Medical First Response Manual and moving onto Ditch Medicine or Wilderness Survival. I found a book that touches on desert survival but would like something a little more in-depth. I am working hard on writing the Jaybowalkin book first chapters and want to have that ready for editing by the 1st.

Ok more to come.

Jaybo is one very confused person…first he wants to walk across USA, then he wants to stop and spend time with all the people who wanted his attention. Then, he decides he can’t handle the cold weather, so he stops walking for the winter. Then he thinks he wants to be a policeman, then a fireman, now Martial Arts. Is there anything else you wish to dream of…and not actually do?
Aside from spending time with your clinging “friends” will you really get down to the writing you say is in your mind?
Sorry Jaybo, this is just another sign of your lack of commitment, and your habit of not thinking about things before you leap into a situation. Just wondered if you have always been this way….undecided, flighty, confused? If so, this is probably why your life has seemed so messed up. Get a grip!

  2. TJ Says:

I, for one, have to agree with Harriet. I have admired the hard work he has put in to the walk so far, but lately, we have been hearing a lot of random childish dreams (policeman, fireman, martial arts, live in a teepee) mixed in with a lot of confusing information (what happened to living in the barn without any creature comforts?). I realize a person can go through many changes on a journey like this, but he simply seems a little schizophrenic at times. I don’t know that Jaybo is going to be able to give his brother much direction and guidance if he doesn’t have any himself. Just my two cents.

  3. JayBo Says:

You are right. Shame on me for wanting a career that I enjoy. Shame on me for spending one hour a day working on a martial art. Shame on me for taking one hour of my day to write. Maybe I should take a job I hate for the money so I can buy a house I can’t afford, and spend all my free hours wasting away in front of the TV. Ah, the American dream. Sit on the couch and not do anything, lets get to 400 pounds again. Nah, I like waking at dawn and doing things and living in ways to improve myself.

I am almost at the point where I am going to only keep in contact with loyal people via email and let the site go into ruin. I am hitting the road after the winter months but everytime I just express my mind people think I have changed my mind. I am confused? I think you are. When I hit the road with my bro maybe I will just say screw the site. To be honest it’s none of your business. I do this because I think people are interested, maybe I am wrong. Maybe they just think this is a stupid idea and then I can save myself the trouble.

As far as martial arts, its something I can practise on the road, or just pick up after I am done. Do you people really have no hobbies other then surfing the web and catching all your shows? Do you just go to bed everynight not learning anything new? Everyday is an opertunity to better yourself and you just waste it. I have a grip, a much more secure one then you it seems. Go go Jerry Springer people, keep on keeping on.

  4. Olivia Jones Says:

At times, I am a critic of JayBo and his method of getting things done, but I have to say that I am saddened by the folks that are saying that he is confused or chasing childish dreams.

I think JayBo should complete his journey to California, however, I also believe that JayBo needs to find and explore things that he enjoys that could help him grow into a different man. JayBo began this journey because his life spiraled out of control, now he is attempting to reverse the spiral and have his life be secure (and hopefully spiral-free)!

People have hobbies and spend time pursuing interests because that is what keeps you alive and joyful instead of just taking part of mundane tasks. Keep up the interest (but also a gentle prod to keep up the walk)! :)

    Jaybo,

Ignore the rude people who feel the need to pull you down. I don’t see them out there walking and losing weight. I for one have enjoyed reading your blog from time to time. I might not read for a week or so, but then I catch up on what you have been doing. I say, “good for you for doing what you want!!” Too many of us stay in jobs we are not happy with so we can have the car, house, etc, “the American dream”. At least you had the guts and the stamina and the courage to set off on this journey and find yourself. If nothing else, you have lost weight (something I need to do) and become a healthier and stronger person. PLEASE don’t stop posting your ventures, just ignore the stupid people with negative comments who shouldn’t waste your time writing rude things!

  6. INSP Says:

I have a thought to add to this blog I challenge any one of these nay sayers to set out and walk not from Myrtle Beach to Arkasas but from 1 city where they live to the next. I bet they won`t have half of the integrity that Jay has shown if it rains the first ride that comes along I bet they`ll say to heck with this and jump in, not to mention thunder storms and sleeping alone at night where you don`t know who lives there are what lives there; forget about it.

Nah they have no room to talk even the most experienced hicker will not be so scathing in they`re opiinions

  7. Lee Says:

What is the deal with brow beating Jason. One of the purposes of Jason walking across America was to FIND HIMSELF. How can he be expected to do this without trying different things. How do you find something if you just sit down and not look for it.

Would I do some of the things that Jason has done while walking across America? No. There are things that he has done of which I do not agree. My children, family and friends do not please me all the time. They do things that I think are reckless, utterly stupid, confusing, etc. But they have survived and most of the things that “I” would not have done have come out fine.

What I am trying to say is give everybody some slack. Do we like everything that people say about Jason? No but everybody is entitled to their opinion and way of life. I see many things every day about people that I do not agree with or condone. Every person is different. What if everybody did everything the same? This world would be a very dull place. Everybody like Harriet…heaven forbide(Sorry Harriet! I even think some of the things you say make sense. Enjoy your life as YOU see fit.)

Jason is to live his life the way he sees fit, just as all of us are. Schitzo, confused, childish, clinging, rambling are words that most of us have used at some time or other to discribe others. Why should Jason be any different. He is just putting himself out there so all can criticize him. We keep on hounding him and he seems ready to shut us off.

  8. Lynn Says:

Yes, I am one of Jason’s new friends. I am proud to be “clinging” to one who is living his dreams. Not enough of us have dreams, let alone follow the ones we have. I know this journey will end in CA., even if it takes more time then first planned. Who are we to tell Jason how to do, what to do and when to do it? So Jason, you continue to do what is best for you. You will always have my support as you have made me a better person for having met you. Have a great holiday season with your friends and family.

    Merry Christmas,
    Lynn

  9. Harriet Says:

Way to go, TJ. Finally someone else sees things as they are, not through the rose colored glasses. I may be in the minority on how I see the situation, but at least those mature adults who are not so self centered can see both sides of this journey.
And Jaybo, don’t close down the site just becuase it is getting too hot to handle. That would certainly be a coward’s way out of the sitution.
    Merry Christmas, Jaybo!

  10. Aimee Carpenter Says:

    JayBo,

I think you really need to take the criticism in stride. Everyone is lying to themselves if they think they are skipping over all of harriet’s comments. She may be harsh but it’s good to have that other perspective and it’s really good to learn how to separate the harsh from the criticism and move on. There are good lessons in everything, but ignoring the difficult is the easy way out.

I’m sorry about the Police test, is there a second chance test you can take? I’d like to hear more about how you prepare this time. Maybe asking people reading what you should be working on, there must be an officer who reads this site…

I hope you find work either way. Merry Christmas.

  11. Greg H. Says:

I’ve followed Jaybo’s walk from the beginning but for the most part have reserved comment except to be supportive when I thought he was struggling.

Every person finds their own way in life. That being said, when you do radio, TV and newspaper interviews and create a website to tell people about your walk across America, you are setting yourself up for second-guessing, criticism and unsolicited advice. It comes with the territory.

Jaybo, it’s your life. It’s your journey. It seems this site and the blogging that goes with it, has been reduced to generalizations about people and name calling. We would all like people to be supportive and positive of things we do. The reality is, that doesn’t happen. Even close friends and family will question your choices or line of thinking. I think Lee pretty much nailed it with his comments.

I wish you good luck in whatever you choose to do. I do think it’s a bit naive to think that anyone who second guesses your journey or the decisions you make is part of the Jerry Springer, get a life crowd. Maybe they are intelligent people, with a wide variety of interests, like you, that just question things and the decisions that people make.

  12. INSP Says:

Ms. Excuse the expression but you`re a bitch, the most miserable person I know, you hate for the porpuse of hating, Larry Flint use to have a article in his mag where you should be front and center, every month that you exhibit your rage.

  13. Nicole Says:

Jay, don’t take the site away just block certain people you don’t wish to hear from. Don’t let them get to you, just ignore any comments. They’re only here to bash you anyways and see what kind of reactions they can get from other people. Keep your head up, you’ve come a long way and remember this is your journey, so you do it the way you want. You don’t need any direction from anyone else. I’m proud of you and only wish you the best!

  14. Kevin K Says:

    Jaybo
I was always under the impression that this journey of faith was more than a physical challenge. I really appreciate the fact that you are willing to share your dreams with us. Keep feeling your way and don’t be afraid to try many different things along your journey. Remember to allow HIM to guide you and HE will lead you to your destiny.
    God Bless
    Kevin K

  15. dave Says:

Again, I find it easier and easier to simply skip over Harriet’s comments, really. I obviously can’t speak for everyone else on this site, but I’m not fooling myself at all — I DO skip them. They’re just not worth my time to read them, mainly because I pretty have the basic idea of what she’s going to say. She’s merely trying to shift the focus to her and off of the site. Just look up “Narcissism” and it’ll pretty much spell it out for you.

It actually probably wouldn’t be a bad idea for Harriet to start her OWN site.

  16. jim Says:

jay bo ive followed you on your journey since sumter sc i think that you have come a long way. you truly have alot of courage to walk into the unknown. most of the people who are talking all of that trash to you wouldnt even walk out in there back yard alone at night. much less across america. they are the type who have to find other peoples faults to make them selves feel better. if you find a path that you want to take take it. its your life. no one else will die for you. so dont let them live your life for you. you will never know what job you will enjoy untill you try it try them all if you want. most places you can be public safety fire and police if you want. but no matter where you go theres always that one person that nobody likes. even on your website. i think they are just like misrable weather. they just make you like the nice days and people that much more. i wouldnt even comment back to them theyre not worth it.

  17. Harriet Says:

If I started my own site, who would really want to visit? Many of you don’t seem to have enough knowledge to write worthwhile comments. You are unable to accept that maybe my thoughts are what many of you have already expressed, but don’t want Jaybo to know it. Actually many of the comments indicate that there are some with the same thoughts…how he has changed his entire motivation, etc. Just because I have the knowledge and courage to say what you are thinking, don’t be so fast to judge.
I have never, (check my postings) said a nasty or mean thing to Jaybo, only comments to give him food for thought. I have been a loyal follower and really did have the idea of seeing him when he comes to CA. But, at the way things are changing, and his plans so incomplete, don’t really think he will ever make it.
Jaybe is very confused at the present time…notice how he is lashing out at so many
comments, and how he may just forget the entire site. This is another example of being childish. (if I can’t have everything my way, I’ll take my marbles and go home).
Seriously, there must be some soul searching here, and I do not mean his religion. I mean, deep inside his own heart, desires, and reason for the walk, he must decide if he is as strong as he wants all of us to believe.
And, BTW, I don’t think for a moment that those who say that you don’t read my posts, are exactly speaking the truth. Just because we can’t see you scroll down, are we supposed to believe it?
I am not craving attention, as many of you think. Instead, I am speaking my thoughts and reminding each of you that we all have opinions.
And no, I am not on meds. As I stated previously, I am a well-educated, business woman, with much more influence than any of you would dare to think. In fact, if you really knew who I am, you would be in shock. So, lay off the criticism! You may find out at a later date and place exactly who all does visit this site….then, let’s see what you all think….am I a complete nut, or do I have more knowledge of the entire situation than many of you ?????

  18. Nicole Says:

    Team Jaybo,

What is your email address or how can I contact you?

  19. JayBo Says:

Team Jaybo is on vacation at the moment. I am taking care of everything. I will email you personally if there is something I can help with.

  20. Nicole Says:

Yeah email me personally, Jay, you should have my address.

  21. INSP Says:

I can understand: in the movie industry how it is Necessary to have critics to make sure that you don`t spend your money on a worthless movie,

But in this instance here you have a man who has gone through the storms of life and is learning how to come out not only that a man who has given up the comforts of home who has left his wonderful mother and brother and started to walk and by God he`s come a mighty long way yes he still has a ways to go but hey the only thing this man need is encouragement and compassion and Ms. Lady if you don`t understand that I wish you would take your marbels and go home..

And really if your opinion was worth as much as you think tell me where I can read your articles and let me see how well you have been received!

As of this moment excuse the expression you`re a BITCH

  22. Louise Liermann Says:

Harriet: You can certainly dish it out but I see you aren’t able to accept it as well - “Lay off the criticism”. You’re right, if you had your own site, nobody would write - you do seem to realize that. Don’t know where you feel YOU make worthwhile comments - only negative and extremely sarcastic remarks from you. So what if Jay does change his motivation - the bottom line is getting the job done and getting to CA in safety and good health. He’s just a kid and can change his mind a dozen times - that doesn’t make him a bad person. No one in their right mind would “check your postings” - they’re disgusting enough the first time through! Nasty and mean comments designed only to rabel rouse not help in any way, shape or form. I cannot imagine Jay wanting to meet you in California - why on earth do you think he would? Please don’t claim to speak others’ thoughts and opinions. It’s very ignorant to assume only you can speak for others. You claim to be a well-educated business woman with influence. If that’s true, what in God’s name are you doing harrassing a young man while he’s trying to do something good in his life? I notice your postings are around 10:00 am and pm. Is that when they let you out of your cage for an airing? I worked for a major business for 16 years and was glad to get time to go to the bathroom some days. If you’re such a famous business person how do you have time to waste in the busy times of the day bothering us with your negativeness and in the evening when you should be with your boyfriend/husband/significant other. Haven’t got any of those, huh? Not surprising! Are you a complete nut - maybe not complete yet, but well on the way. YOU get a grip, missy and apologize to Jay and then get lost for Pete’s sake. YOUR KIND OF “HELP” IS NOT NEEDED.”
