The Giants Baby!

Uncategorized

First off, my bro and I have been talking for sometime now about what is coming up. Our planned route is still up in the air after Dallas but we will be getting on bikes in the Dallas area. After walking the additional 400 miles to Dallas we will switch it up and travel the rest by bike, money of course is going to be a little shaky on getting two bikes road worthy for such a trek. I am working as a mall security guard (second shift arg!) but with rent, gas and other expenses it will be tight. I do have access to one, possibly two bikes that we can just modify. Either way, that is the plan.

On another note… I love the Giants. It was such a great game! I can see why Chris told me it would be hard to get back on the road after stopping. I want to get back, normal life is a bit slow and boring but life moves on with you or without you. Coming home to get my huge stack of mail and having just tons of things to do really irritated me. Not to mention the desire to get my life in order. Just some random thoughts… its funny, not much happens when you are doing the “normal” thing. Nothing really exciting happens that is worthy to write about. I don’t have some huge revelations while just doing the day in day out modern life.

Lets try and get this interactive if you would like. Post some questions… I am getting bored :(

    Jaybo,

Just curious, why the change to bikes in Dallas versus finishing the walk? Too challenging to walk the entire way? What was your thought process in making the change? Just wanted variety?
I think it’s fair to say that you aren’t a 8-5, 3-11 type of guy. The firefighter thing might suit you better if that is still on the table. Is that still in your plans? Any thoughts on when you might make it to California if you bike it from Dallas? Once you reach California, what’s the plan then?

As a lifelong Giants fan, I have been thrilled by watching our boys get better and better each week. It was AWESOME to see them win and become WORLD CHAMPIONS!

The firefighter idea still seems like an awesome idea. I will keep you in my prayers and you discern.

    Tom

After the adventures you have had, ordinary life should seem a little bland. Working 2nd shift has to make it that much worse.

How is the reading going? Did you finish the Book on Gandhi that I gave you?

    A few Recommendations:

Diet for a New America by John Robbins
No Time to Lose by Pema Chodron
The Anatomy of Stretching by Brad Walker

More to come but I want to have read more before recommending.

tried emailing you and it failed to go through?

Wow what a suprize to find that you now want to bike across the western portion of the journey. On that note I want to add that in Southern Orange County CA., there was a biker who was attacked by a mountain lion. Those Cats like to stalk they`re prey and will eat humans.

I don`t know what to do for protection perhaps somebody can add to the info.

  5. Edward (SC) Says:

Considering the number of bikers in So. Cal, compared with the number of attacks by mountain lions, I’d say you’re pretty safe. There is a much greater chance of getting hit by a car than attacked by a mountain lion.

hey. jaybo. didn’t eli go to some school in miss.. day in and day out are ok if small goals are met from time to time.. set them up and watch them fall.. matt just moved into his house a couple of weeks ago, he found a pair of your old shoes(hope you didn’t need them) don’t know what kind of bike you want but i have $50.00 not doing anything guess pitching it in on a new bike would make me feel good and help you and your brother with ya’lls journey.. the wood cutters IN India use holloween masks put on backwards to trick the tigers into thinking they’re being watched.. keeping looking west.. gene
